Hello everyone, I hope you’ve all had a good Christmas and ate plenty of mince pies. As I sit writing this there’s only six hours of 2012 left. Where did it all go? I say this every year but I’ve only just begun getting used to it being 2012, and it’s over. Christmas has been good for me, but perhaps not the best if I’m honest. Mainly due to the fact that I came down with a really nasty chest infection and spent most of the holidays in my sick bed. I’m on the mend now but it’ll still take a week or so to get back to normal, or what I call normal anyway hehe.
So why am I writing this? Well, not to complain or look for a sympathy vote. More to explain why the episode of Rathole Radio due last week never happened. I had to cancel the live show on Sunday Dec 23rd because I was too ill. My hope of recording something for release later never came to fruition either. I’ve only just gotten my talking voice back and I think now it might be better to skip the planned episode altogether and move straight onto the next one on Sunday January 6th. I hope you’ll understand.
Another project that’s suffered due to my illness is our 20lb Sounds album recording. We had planned to get a few songs in the bag over Christmas but I haven’t been able to sing which is a bit of a problem. It shouldn’t push the project back too much but it is frustrating when you’ve spent so much time preparing and looking forward to it. I’ll let you know what’s happening with that as soon as I can. I did send out an email update with some pictures to our generous Kickstarter supporters. You know who you are.
I hope you’ve all had a good 2012. I though about writing a long and reflective post but in the wake of illness and other things I don’t really think it’s needed. Look back through this blog and you’ll see what happened this year. It was a good one overall. Some plans came together, others didn’t, that’s life. I guess looking at the New Year it’s a case of rolling my sleeves up and going at it again. The album is a major priority, I also have many more podcasts to do and hopefully plenty of training work, writing and who knows what. Training has been an interesting development. I never considered myself a teacher in any way but actually it’s quite fun. Especially when the people you’re teaching want to learn and have a genuine interest. I look forward to more of that in 2013.
There we go some brief reflection crept in after all, who knew. Well, I wish you all the best for 2013 and I’ll see you on the other side. Take care everyone and be happy
