Update: Keeping Busy As Always

Hey folks, just wanted to keep you up to date with what I’ve been doing this week. I recorded episode 15 of Linux Outlaws with Fabian on Wednesday which hopefully should be out over the weekend. The show is taking off a lot quicker than I think either of us expected and I know a large part of that is down to all of you who read this blog. So thank you for the support guys I really appreciate it 😉

We’ve also got ourselves a little store at CafePress now with some cool t-shirts and mugs Fab designed. All income is to help with running costs for the show. You can check it out here

I’ve actually been running Pardus Linux 2007.3 most of this week and I’ve written a full review for a site called Linux Planet, I hope it’ll be published in the near future. As soon as I have the details I’ll post a link here of course but in the meantime you might want to check out the site, there’s some good stuff on there. I haven’t really done any professional writing before so this is something new which I’m really excited about. Fingers crossed 🙂

The Zenwalk review is on the way and I’ll get it published over the weekend I hope so keep an eye out for that. I had hoped to get it out sooner but I just haven’t had a chance, appologies for that. It’s been a little hectic this week and I’ve also been trying to brush up on my Linux server admin knowledge, which to be honest is very sparse at the moment. I run a VPS (Virtual Private Server) for a few of my sites which is built on CentOS, sadly I can’t afford a dedicated server of my own quite yet but hopefully in future. I’ve jumped right in at the deep end with Linux web server admin having not done much before and thankfully I seem to be getting better at it. There have been a few scary moments and I’m sure there’ll be a few more down the line. I’ve got myself a few books and I’m hoping to build some test servers I can then promptly destroy probably. I’ve been a web developer for a few years now and administered Windows servers (the shame of it) quite a bit in large organisations. I’d really like to get to grips more with the server side of things on Linux though and I also want to checkout things like OpenBSD possibly. If anyone has suggestions for courses, books or anything else on Unix server admin please let me know by all means. I need all the help I can get and one thing’s for sure I’m not going back to Windows now.

That’s about it, hope you have a good week and I’ll try to get some more reviews to you ASAP. Look after your penguins in the meantime.
